The other day, a lady told me that they had received 700 applications for a position that her company had advertised. When I heard this, it left me speechless. I could not believe the number of people applying for a position.
As I'm scrolling through Threads (2024), I read about how many people have applied for more than 200 positions or how they have been unemployed for many months. They are feeling down in the dumps, and some aren't motivated anymore; they are fed up.
Going through a time where your job is job hunting, there are sometimes not enough money to do the activities you once enjoyed when you had a job. Job hunting might only keep you busy for 2-3 hours per day and housekeeping maybe for 2 hours. Days can become long and thoughts of doubt might creep in.
I always suggest to people that when they are retired or unemployed, they should do three things, namely:
Volunteer at your local church;
Get involved in a community project; or
Volunteer at your local charity.
These three things will keep the doubts at bay, help you fill your time while you wait for an interview, and might just teach you some new skills you haven't had before. Sometimes you might meet someone at any of these three places who might even know of a job opening or be a potential employer.
I too have been unemployed in the past, and I know how daunting it can be. Sometimes there's no hope at all, and some days you're bored out of your mind. I can relate; I know what you're going through, and these three things will help to keep you sane.
