We are all mortal beings. None of us is immortal because we get sick or injured, and we all die eventually. Most of us get sick at some point in our lives, where we need to take some sort of medicine to keep us alive, or we are hospitalized for a long period of time without any definite indication of when we will be home again. It's a very difficult time, and emotions go up and down in times like these. Some days you feel on top of the world, and others feel as if the whole world is pressing down on you.
When you Google today's title, there are a few points that AI Overview or Copilot throw out.
Understanding your condition and how the medication helps.
This can be very helpful indeed, but in my opinion, this isn't the problem when it comes to taking chronic medications each day that save your life. The issue is that you get tired of taking those meds every few hours. You can see how it saves your life, but you can also see the negative side effects. With this comes depression because you're frustrated. This is where the next point might help, according to AI.
Set goals
During this period when you're taking medication every few hours, setting small, achievable goals can help you get through this time. Engaging in an activity you enjoy each day could be your lifeline. It provides something to look forward to and instills a bit of hope, helping you push through the depression.
Positive affirmations
A pastor gave some advice to a congregation member the other day about how they should talk to their body and tell the body to calm down. To talk to the white blood cells to fight against the illness. This comes down to faith, power in what you speak (Proverbs 18:21), and positive affirmations. Positive self-talk helps your mind to stay on par with that silver lining around the cloud. It's not over until it's over, and you need to remember that. Keep going, take the medications or treatment, ask God for His help, and talk positive things to yourself and about your body.
Just do it
This last one is one that comes from my heart. Sometimes we just have to do the things that we dislike and get it over and done with. We all need to work every day; otherwise, we can't eat. Or we all have to take care of our hygiene; otherwise, we will let everyone walk circles around us. When you go through a terminal illness, disease, or sickness, just do what you need to do. It gets tiring, and there are days when you want to give up, but let God decide when your time is up. Because it's not always about you; what you go through is sometimes for someone else, to bring them closer to the One that created us all.
This time that you are going through, keep your head high. There are many that love you and there are many you can reach out to. If not, find professional help on whom you can lean on for support.
