We've all heard it: "Sometimes the basic things we have, others yearn for."

In a developing country, you can observe widespread poverty and individuals earning low incomes. Some work on the streets with a small gas stove, preparing food for customers, while others work as security guards in shopping centers to prevent car theft, while they are paid tips from motor car drivers. At times, you may observe individuals with a low income wearing worn-out shoes, clothes with a hole or two, or keeping all their belongings close in a corner, as they sleep under bridges or on the streets.

By being observant of these details, you have the opportunity to help individuals with lower incomes or those in need. For instance, the next time you organize your wardrobe and come across items you no longer wear, pack them in small plastic bags along with a couple of dollars. Store these bags in your car and when you encounter someone in need, offer them one of the bags. Witness the immense gratitude they express, as they thank you profusely with a heartwarming smile.

This makes you think... how the basic things you have, others need. Your closet might be filled with more than three blouses or shirts, three trousers or pants, three pairs of shoes, three pairs of underwear, or three pairs of socks, but still you want more. There are people out in the world who only have one to two pairs of any clothing item, and they walk among us.

The joy you get from being a blessing to someone in need is greater than the abundance you have. Materialistic things give no joy because they don't have a soul to show emotions, but people and animals do. Shift your focus and see how your heart lights up by being a blessing to someone else.
