Today, everyone around the world is wishing each other a happy new year. You will either be in the company of people and bless them, or you'll send them a message. Whatever way you wish them a happy new year, it's happening.

These days, you find that people send you a generic image with words rather than calling you or taking the time to type a message. Images are flying all over WhatsApp, IM, or any other social media platform.

I have a friend, and this friend isn't mushy with words or hugs. I might not understand it but accept it. But the thing that I can't understand is how it became acceptable to send a generic image instead of using a call or taking the time to type a message suited for an individual? What happened to being meaningful? Is it laziness, or is it that you just don't want to use your precious time to make someone else smile?

It grieves me to see these generic images sent to me. I want a message that you thoughtfully send. I receive such messages from acquaintances, and that makes me sad. It's friends and family that need to be different, but no.

Next time, next year, take the time and send a meaningful message instead of an image. Think about someone else, even if you're not very fond of them or doesn't have a good relationship with them. Set that aside, be different and make them smile. What you sow, you reap.
